Mid-Atlantic Drainage, Inc. (MAD) was incorporated on August 1, 1984, with a corporate office located in Hickory, NC. MAD relocated to Old Highway 70 in Conover, North Carolina and precast production at this newly acquired property was developed.  Relocation to 105 GE Plant Road, SW occurred a few years later due to the construction of the Tate Boulevard Extension. Further expansion of the North Carolina facility is planned in order to enhance the production of precast and other related products.

Early in the business, distribution of primarily Galvanized Steel and Aluminum Corrugated pipe enabled the company to expand into various markets. The Grand Strand area of Horry County, South Carolina quickly became one of MAD’s focus areas. Early in 1986 a few precast catch basin forms were purchased, property was leased in Myrtle Beach and precast production began slowly.

The manufacturing process grew steadily requiring the purchase of property located on Ron McNair Road and the renovation of a 36” Concrete Pipe Machine. Products manufactured at the Ron McNair location included: RCP, Flared End Sections, Knock-Out Panel Catch Basins, Risers, Tops, Headwalls, Manholes, Piling and other related storm drain products. A few years later, the construction of the Carolinas’ Bay Parkway forced the company to relocate 25 miles north.Property at 1124 White Oak Lane, just south of Aynor, was purchased and the tedious land development and eventual move took place. The decision to purchase a semi-automated 48” Concrete Pipe Machine became the main priority at the new location. Other precast products were also developed such as Box Culvert, Beveled End Sections, and larger solid wall Catch Basins. Hole coring of precast products became a strong service as well. During early 2008 a second (36”), mostly automated Concrete Pipe Machine, was placed into service. Plans are to continue the development of products at the SC manufacturing facility.

The owners and management of MAD have more than 150 combined years experience in storm drain and erosion control products and are committed in providing customers with superior service and products within the North and South Carolina markets.
